About LAI

About Lighting Association Ireland

Membership of the Association is open to all bona fide lighting-related trading entities, provided they are fully tax-compliant and hold an in-date Tax Clearance Access Number. LAI is the voice of the lighting profession in Ireland.

LAI Objectives

Lighting Association Ireland (LAI) aims to promote best practice across all lighting applications, from the smallest domestic installation right up to multi-million-euro projects.

All parties in the supply chain – from manufacturers and manufacturers’ agents right through to consultants, specifiers, architects, lighting designers, wholesalers, and contractors — need to fully understand existing and emerging lighting-related technologies, and to keep abreast of, and even anticipate future developments. This also applies to controls and communication protocols.

Correctly-designed and installed lighting contributes to the energy efficiency targets set by the Government and LAI acts as an “enabler” for these targets, thereby helping Ireland achieve its mandatory EU energy and carbon reduction targets.

The principal strands by which LAI aims to achieve these goals are by way of comprehensive training and education programmes, and the dissemination of information and guidance.
