Under the EU energy labelling requirements, lighting suppliers are legally required to register products placed on Irish market on EPREL. However, some LAI members find the EPREL registration process confusing and challenging.
Consequently, LAI’s EPREL Committee recently participated in a half-day EPREL Workshop hosted by the Market Surveillance Authority (MSA) within SEAI, as MSA’s role is to verify that products sold in the EU follow the requirements laid out in EU regulations.
The main problem concerns the interpretation of some of the terminology used, most specifically what constitutes a “light source” and a “containing product”.
